About
hi, I'm areeba, an engineer, a certified nerd, and apparently the type of person who responds to "i can't find what i'm looking for" by just building it from scratch. very normal behaviour. totally not an engineer thing at all.
i love building things. i always have. i'm an aerospace engineering student from toronto, i've spent the last few years designing spacecraft power systems, interning at the canadian space agency, and reading books about saladin and mandela at 2am. if i see a problem, my brain just goes straight to: okay, how do i fix this?
and i never thought i'd be saying this, but modest fashion is the problem i couldn't stop thinking about. it's just not designed for us. not really. muslim girls have been making do with whatever's available, too plain, too boring, or just not made with us in mind at all. and i got tired of it.
so i did what i do. i identified the problem, got a little obsessed, and started building. azlyf is starting with hijabs, butter soft fabrics, real colours, actually thought through, and it's growing into something much bigger. abayas, dresses, a full modest wardrobe built from scratch, by a muslim girl, for muslim girls.
that's the whole point of this brand. it's not run by a corporation guessing what we want. it's by the girls, for the girls, and it will always listen. ♡
