The Modal Hijab Care Ritual

A modal hijab is loved for its softness and fluid drape. Gentle care helps protect those qualities and keeps the fabric looking refined between wears.

Wash with less friction

Hand washing in cold water is the gentlest option. Use a small amount of mild detergent and avoid scrubbing or twisting. If you prefer a washing machine, place the hijab in a mesh laundry bag, choose a delicate cold cycle, and wash it with similar colours.

Skip harsh products

Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and strong stain treatments. These products can affect the hand feel, colour, and finish of delicate fabric. Treat stains promptly and gently.

Air dry

Press out excess water without wringing. Lay the hijab flat or hang it smoothly away from direct sunlight. Tumble drying can add unnecessary heat and friction.

Steam rather than overheat

A low garment steamer is usually the easiest way to release wrinkles. If you use an iron, select low heat and place a clean protective cloth between the iron and the hijab.

Prevent snags

Keep the fabric away from rough jewellery, exposed zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, and sharp pins. Smooth magnets and snag-free pins are gentler styling options.

Store with intention

Fold your hijabs neatly or use smooth hangers in a cool, dry space. Avoid overcrowding, which can create deep creases and make colours harder to see when getting dressed.

Always follow the care label attached to your item if it differs from this general guide.
